Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle
Capítulo 7, Página 11
"Mr.
Henry
Baker,
I
presume,"
said
Holmes,
rising
from
his
chair
and
greeting
the
visitor
warmly.
"Please,
sit
by
the
fire,
Mr.
Baker.
It's
a
cold
night,
and
you
seem
more
suited
for
summer
than
winter.
Ah,
Watson,
you've
arrived
just
in
time.
Is
that
your
hat,
Mr.
Baker?"
"Yes,
sir,
that's
definitely
my
hat."
He
was
a
large
man
with
rounded
shoulders,
a
big
head,
and
a
broad,
intelligent
face
that
tapered
to
a
pointed
beard
with
gray-brown
hair.
His
red
nose
and
cheeks,
along
with
a
slight
tremor
in
his
extended
hand,
confirmed
Holmes'
guess
about
his
habits.
His
old
black
frock-coat
was
buttoned
up,
with
the
collar
turned
up,
and
his
thin
wrists
stuck
out
from
his
sleeves
without
cuffs
or
a
shirt
showing.
He
spoke
slowly,
choosing
his
words
carefully,
and
seemed
like
a
learned
man
who
had
suffered
misfortune.
"We
kept
these
items
for
a
few
days,"
said
Holmes,
"expecting
you'd
advertise
your
address.
I'm
puzzled
why
you
didn't."
Our
visitor
laughed
awkwardly.
"Money
hasn't
been
as
available
as
it
used
to
be,"
he
said.
"I
was
sure
the
gang
that
attacked
me
had
taken
both
my
hat
and
the
bird.
I
didn't
want
to
spend
more
trying
to
get
them
back."
"Quite
understandable.
By
the
way,
we
had
to
eat
the
bird."
"Eat
it!"
Our
visitor
almost
jumped
from
his
chair
in
surprise.
"Yes,
it
would
have
been
useless
otherwise.
But
I
assume
this
other
goose
on
the
sideboard,
which
is
about
the
same
weight
and
fresh,
will
suit
you
just
as
well?"
