Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle
Capítulo 7, Página 22
A
blush
appeared
on
the
stranger's
pale
cheeks.
"Well
then,"
he
said,
"my
real
name
is
James
Ryder."
"Exactly.
Head
attendant
at
the
Hotel
Cosmopolitan.
Please
get
into
the
cab,
and
I'll
soon
tell
you
everything
you
want
to
know."
The
small
man
looked
nervously
between
us,
unsure
if
he
was
facing
a
stroke
of
luck
or
disaster.
Then
he
stepped
into
the
cab,
and
in
thirty
minutes,
we
were
back
in
the
sitting-room
at
Baker
Street.
We
said
nothing
during
the
ride,
but
his
rapid
breathing
and
restless
hands
showed
his
inner
tension.
"Here
we
are!"
said
Holmes
cheerfully
as
we
entered
the
room.
"The
fire
is
quite
welcome
in
this
weather.
You
look
cold,
Mr.
Ryder.
Please
take
the
basket-chair.
I'll
just
put
on
my
slippers
before
we
discuss
your
little
matter.
Now,
do
you
want
to
know
what
happened
to
those
geese?"
"Yes,
sir."
"Or
rather,
I
suspect,
that
one
goose.
I
believe
it
was
a
single
bird
that
interested
you—white,
with
a
black
stripe
on
the
tail."
Ryder
trembled
with
emotion.
"Oh,
sir,"
he
cried,
"can
you
tell
me
where
it
went?"
"It
came
here."
