Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Speckled Band
Capítulo 8, Página 12
"I
cannot
think."
"When
you
consider
the
night
whistles,
the
gipsies'
connection
with
the
old
doctor,
the
fact
that
the
doctor
might
want
to
stop
his
stepdaughter's
marriage,
the
dying
mention
of
a
band,
and
the
metallic
sound
Miss
Helen
Stoner
heard,
which
could
have
been
a
metal
bar
falling
back
into
place,
it
seems
we
have
a
strong
basis
to
solve
this
mystery."
"But
what
did
the
gipsies
do,
then?"
"I
can't
imagine."
"I
see
many
issues
with
that
theory."
"So
do
I.
That's
why
we're
going
to
Stoke
Moran
today.
I
want
to
see
if
these
objections
are
significant
or
if
they
can
be
explained.
But
what
on
earth!"
My
companion's
exclamation
was
due
to
our
door
being
suddenly
flung
open,
and
a
huge
man
standing
in
the
doorway.
His
outfit
was
a
strange
mix
of
professional
and
rural,
with
a
black
top-hat,
a
long
frock-coat,
and
high
gaiters,
holding
a
hunting-crop.
He
was
so
tall
that
his
hat
touched
the
doorway's
crossbar,
and
he
seemed
to
fill
the
space
from
side
to
side.
His
large
face
was
lined
with
countless
wrinkles,
sunburnt,
and
marked
with
every
evil
passion,
resembling
a
fierce
old
bird
of
prey
with
deep-set,
angry
eyes
and
a
high,
thin
nose.
"Which
of
you
is
Holmes?"
demanded
the
imposing
figure.
