Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Speckled Band
Capítulo 8, Página 25
"Can
you
at
least
tell
me
if
my
suspicion
is
right?
Did
she
die
from
sudden
fright?"
"No,
I
don't
think
so.
I
believe
there
was
a
more
physical
cause.
And
now,
Miss
Stoner,
we
must
leave
you.
If
Dr.
Roylott
returns
and
sees
us,
our
efforts
will
be
wasted.
Goodbye,
and
be
brave.
If
you
follow
my
instructions,
you
can
be
sure
we
will
soon
remove
the
threats
against
you."
Sherlock
Holmes
and
I
easily
secured
a
bedroom
and
sitting-room
at
the
Crown
Inn.
They
were
on
the
upper
floor,
and
from
our
window,
we
could
see
the
avenue
gate
and
the
inhabited
wing
of
Stoke
Moran
Manor
House.
At
dusk,
we
saw
Dr.
Grimesby
Roylott
drive
past,
his
large
figure
towering
over
the
small
boy
who
drove
him.
The
boy
struggled
a
bit
with
the
heavy
iron
gates,
and
we
heard
the
Doctor's
harsh
voice
and
saw
him
angrily
shaking
his
fists
at
the
boy.
The
carriage
moved
on,
and
a
few
minutes
later,
we
saw
a
sudden
light
appear
among
the
trees
as
a
lamp
was
lit
in
one
of
the
sitting-rooms.
"You
know,
Watson,"
said
Holmes
as
we
sat
together
in
the
growing
darkness,
"I
have
some
reservations
about
taking
you
tonight.
There
is
a
definite
element
of
danger."
"Can
I
be
of
help?"
"Your
presence
could
be
invaluable."
"Then
I
will
certainly
come."
"That's
very
kind
of
you."
