Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 21, Página 2
"In
life,
young
people
dream
of
happy
parties.
They
imagine
fun
and
dancing.
They
see
themselves
as
the
center
of
attention.
In
their
mind,
they
wear
white
dresses
and
dance.
They
are
the
happiest
in
the
room.
"Time
moves
fast,
and
soon
the
party
starts.
Everything
looks
magical.
Each
scene
is
better
than
the
last.
But
soon,
she
sees
it
is
all
fake.
The
nice
words
now
hurt
her
ears.
The
party
is
not
fun
anymore.
Tired
and
sad,
she
learns
that
parties
do
not
fill
the
heart."
The
reading
went
on.
People
whispered,
"How
sweet!"
"So
true!"
When
it
ended
with
a
lesson,
everyone
clapped.
Next,
a
thin,
sad
girl
stood
up.
She
was
pale.
She
read
a
"poem."
Here
are
two
lines:
"A
MISSOURI
MAIDEN’S
FAREWELL
TO
ALABAMA"
"Goodbye,
Alabama!
I
love
you!
But
I
must
leave
now.
I
feel
sad.
I
remember
your
pretty
woods.
I
walked
near
Tallapoosa's
stream.
I
listened
to
the
water
at
Tallassee.
I
watched
the
sunrise
by
Coosa.
"I
am
not
ashamed
to
cry.
I
leave
friends,
not
strangers.
I
had
a
home
here.
I
leave
the
valleys
and
the
tall
buildings.
My
eyes
and
heart
will
be
cold
when
I
forget
you,
Alabama!"
Many
people
did
not
know
what
"tête"
meant,
but
they
liked
the
poem
anyway.
