Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 4, Página 5
Tom
showed
his
tickets.
They
were
good,
and
he
got
the
prize.
Then
Tom
traded
some
marbles
for
red
tickets.
He
got
more
tickets
from
other
boys.
Tom
went
into
the
church
with
many
boys
and
girls.
He
sat
down
and
started
a
fight
with
a
boy.
The
teacher
stopped
them.
Then
Tom
pulled
a
boy’s
hair.
The
boy
turned
around,
but
Tom
was
reading.
Later,
Tom
stuck
a
pin
in
another
boy.
The
boy
shouted,
“Ouch!”
The
teacher
told
him
to
stop
again.
Tom’s
class
was
noisy
and
wild.
They
did
not
know
their
lessons
well.
They
got
small
blue
tickets.
Each
blue
ticket
was
for
two
verses.
Ten
blue
tickets
made
a
red
one.
Ten
red
tickets
made
a
yellow
one.
Ten
yellow
tickets
got
a
Bible.
Mary
got
two
Bibles
in
two
years.
A
German
boy
got
four
or
five.
He
said
three
thousand
verses
once.
It
was
too
hard
for
him.
He
was
not
smart
after
that.
The
school
was
sad.
He
was
good
for
big
events.
Only
older
kids
got
a
Bible.
It
was
special
to
get
one.
Tom
wanted
the
glory
of
the
prize.
The
superintendent
stood
up.
He
had
a
hymn-book.
He
asked
for
attention.
He
was
thin
and
had
sandy
hair.
He
wore
a
tall
collar.
His
chin
rested
on
a
big
tie.
His
boots
had
pointed
toes.
Mr.
Walters
was
serious
and
honest.
He
spoke
differently
on
Sundays.
He
started
his
speech.
“Now,
children,
sit
up
straight.
Listen
to
me.
Good
boys
and
girls
do
this.
I
see
a
girl
looking
outside.
Maybe
she
thinks
I
am
there.
I
feel
happy
to
see
you
here.
You
are
learning
to
be
good.”
He
talked
more
like
this.
We
all
know
this
kind
of
speech.
The
speech
got
noisy.
Some
boys
started
fighting.
They
whispered
and
moved
around.
Sid
and
Mary
stayed
quiet.
Then
all
sounds
stopped.
Mr.
Walters
finished
his
speech.
The
room
was
quiet.
Visitors
came
in.
Lawyer
Thatcher
was
there.
An
old
man
was
with
him.
A
big
man
with
gray
hair
came
too.
A
lady
was
with
them.
She
held
a
child’s
hand.
Tom
felt
restless.
He
could
not
look
at
Amy
Lawrence.
But
the
new
child
made
him
happy.
Tom
showed
off.
He
hit
boys
and
made
faces.
He
wanted
the
girl
to
see
him.
He
forgot
his
past
shame.
He
felt
very
happy.
The
visitors
sat
in
the
best
seats.
Mr.
Walters
finished
his
speech.
He
introduced
the
visitors.
The
big
man
was
a
judge.
The
children
were
amazed.
They
wondered
about
him.
He
was
from
Constantinople,
twelve
miles
away.
They
thought
about
the
court-house
with
a
tin
roof.
The
room
was
quiet.
The
children
stared.
This
was
Judge
Thatcher,
lawyer
Thatcher’s
brother.
Jeff
Thatcher
went
to
him.
He
wanted
to
be
seen
with
the
judge.
The
children
whispered.
“Look,
Jim!
Jeff
is
going
up
there.
He
is
shaking
hands
with
the
judge!
Don’t
you
wish
you
were
Jeff?”
Mr.
Walters
liked
to
show
off.
He
gave
orders
and
talked
a
lot.
The
librarian
ran
around
with
books.
The
lady
teachers
smiled
at
the
children.
They
told
the
bad
boys
to
be
good.
The
men
teachers
told
the
children
to
listen.
Everyone
went
to
the
library
many
times.
The
little
girls
showed
off.
The
little
boys
threw
paper.
The
important
man
smiled.
He
liked
to
show
off
too.
