Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 8, Página 1
Tom
ran
through
the
streets.
He
did
not
want
to
see
other
kids.
He
walked
slowly
and
felt
sad.
He
crossed
a
small
stream
many
times.
He
thought
water
could
stop
people
from
following
him.
After
some
time,
he
was
near
the
big
Douglas
house
on
the
hill.
The
school
was
far
behind
him.
He
went
into
a
thick
forest.
He
found
a
nice
place
and
sat
under
a
big
tree.
It
was
very
quiet.
No
wind,
no
birds.
Only
a
woodpecker
made
noise
far
away.
Tom
felt
very
lonely.
He
thought
life
was
hard.
He
envied
Jimmy
Hodges,
who
had
died.
He
thought
it
must
be
peaceful
to
sleep
forever.
He
wished
he
had
a
good
Sunday-school
record.
Then
he
could
die
and
be
done
with
everything.
He
thought
about
a
girl.
He
did
nothing
wrong,
but
she
was
mean
to
him.
She
would
be
sorry
one
day.
He
wished
he
could
die
for
a
short
time.
But
Tom
could
not
stay
sad
for
long.
He
started
to
think
about
life
again.
What
if
he
left
and
never
came
back?
How
would
she
feel
then?
He
thought
about
being
a
clown
but
did
not
like
it.
He
wanted
something
more
exciting.
He
thought
of
being
a
soldier.
He
would
come
back
famous.
Then
he
thought
of
joining
the
Indians.
He
would
hunt
buffaloes
and
be
a
great
chief.
But
then,
he
had
a
better
idea.
He
would
be
a
pirate!
He
saw
his
future
as
a
pirate.
People
would
know
his
name.
He
would
sail
the
seas
in
a
fast,
black
ship.
He
would
come
back
to
the
village
and
everyone
would
whisper,
“It’s
Tom
Sawyer
the
Pirate!”
Tom
decided
he
would
run
away
and
start
his
new
life.
He
would
leave
the
next
morning.
He
needed
to
get
ready.
He
went
to
a
log
and
started
to
dig
with
his
knife.
He
found
something
under
the
log.
He
said
some
magic
words:
“What
hasn’t
come
here,
come!
What’s
here,
stay
here!”
He
moved
the
dirt
and
found
a
wooden
piece.
Under
it
was
a
small
box.
Inside
was
a
marble.
Tom
was
very
surprised.
He
scratched
his
head
and
said:
“Well,
that
beats
anything!”
He
threw
the
marble
away
and
thought.
His
magic
did
not
work.
He
believed
if
you
buried
a
marble
and
said
magic
words,
all
lost
marbles
would
come
back.
But
it
did
not
work.
Tom
was
confused.
He
thought
maybe
a
witch
broke
the
magic.
He
wanted
to
check.
He
found
a
small
sandy
spot.
He
put
his
mouth
close
and
called:
“Doodle-bug,
doodle-bug,
tell
me
what
I
want
to
know!
Doodle-bug,
doodle-bug,
tell
me
what
I
want
to
know!”
