Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 9, Página 1
At
nine-thirty,
Tom
and
Sid
went
to
bed.
They
said
their
prayers.
Sid
fell
asleep
fast.
Tom
stayed
awake.
He
waited
and
waited.
He
thought
it
was
morning,
but
the
clock
said
ten.
He
felt
sad.
He
wanted
to
move
but
did
not
want
to
wake
Sid.
He
lay
still
and
looked
at
the
dark.
It
was
very
quiet.
Then
small
noises
started.
The
clock
ticked
loudly.
The
old
house
made
noises.
The
stairs
creaked.
Aunt
Polly
snored
softly.
A
cricket
chirped.
Tom
felt
scared.
A
dog
howled
far
away.
Tom
felt
afraid.
He
thought
time
stopped.
He
started
to
sleep.
At
eleven,
he
heard
a
loud
noise.
A
window
opened.
Someone
shouted,
“Scat!
you
devil!”
A
bottle
crashed.
Tom
woke
up.
He
dressed
quickly
and
went
out
the
window.
He
crawled
on
the
roof.
He
made
a
quiet
“meow”
sound.
He
jumped
to
the
ground.
Huckleberry
Finn
was
there
with
his
cat.
They
walked
away.
After
thirty
minutes,
they
were
in
the
graveyard.
The
graveyard
was
old.
It
was
on
a
hill.
It
was
far
from
the
village.
A
broken
fence
was
around
it.
Grass
and
weeds
grew
everywhere.
The
old
graves
were
low.
No
tombstones
were
there.
Old
boards
stood
over
the
graves.
They
had
words
on
them,
but
no
one
could
read
them
now.
A
wind
blew
through
the
trees.
Tom
felt
scared.
He
thought
the
dead
were
unhappy.
The
boys
talked
quietly.
The
place
was
very
quiet
and
serious.
They
found
a
new
grave.
They
hid
by
three
big
trees
near
it.
They
waited
for
a
long
time.
An
owl
hooted
far
away.
Tom
felt
scared.
He
needed
to
talk.
He
whispered:
“Hucky,
do
you
think
dead
people
like
us
here?”
Huckleberry
whispered:
“I
don’t
know.
It’s
very
serious,
isn’t
it?”
“I
think
so.”
