Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 13, Página 5
They
made
a
fire
next
to
a
big
log,
twenty
or
thirty
steps
inside
the
dark
forest.
Then
they
cooked
bacon
for
supper
in
a
pan
and
used
half
of
the
corn
“pone”
they
brought.
It
felt
amazing
to
eat
like
this
in
the
wild
forest
on
an
empty
island,
far
from
people.
They
said
they
would
never
go
back
to
the
city.
The
fire
lit
up
their
faces
and
the
tree
trunks,
making
the
forest
look
like
a
temple.
When
the
last
bacon
slice
was
gone,
and
the
last
corn
pone
eaten,
the
boys
lay
on
the
grass,
happy
and
full.
They
could
have
found
a
cooler
place,
but
they
liked
the
warm
campfire.
“Isn’t
this
fun?”
said
Joe.
“It’s
great!”
said
Tom.
“What
would
the
boys
say
if
they
saw
us?”
“Say?
They’d
want
to
be
here—right,
Hucky?”
“I
think
so,”
said
Huckleberry.
“I’m
happy.
I
don’t
get
enough
to
eat
usually,
and
here
nobody
can
bother
me.”
“This
is
the
life
for
me,”
said
Tom.
“No
getting
up
early,
no
school,
no
washing,
none
of
that
stuff.
Pirates
don’t
have
to
do
anything,
Joe,
when
they’re
on
land.
But
a
hermit
has
to
pray
a
lot
and
has
no
fun
alone.”
“Oh
yes,
that’s
true,”
said
Joe.
“I
didn’t
think
about
it,
you
know.
I’d
rather
be
a
pirate
now.”
