Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 14, Página 2
“I
wonder,”
Tom
whispered
back.
“It’s
not
thunder,”
said
Huckleberry,
sounding
scared,
“because
thunder—”
“Listen!”
said
Tom.
“Don’t
talk.”
They
waited
for
what
seemed
like
a
long
time.
Then
the
same
sound
broke
the
silence
again.
“Let’s
go
and
see.”
They
jumped
up
and
ran
to
the
shore
near
the
town.
They
pushed
through
the
bushes
and
looked
over
the
water.
The
steam
ferry-boat
was
a
mile
from
the
village,
moving
with
the
current.
The
deck
was
full
of
people.
Many
small
boats
were
around
the
ferry,
but
the
boys
could
not
see
what
the
men
were
doing.
Then
a
big
puff
of
white
smoke
came
from
the
ferry,
and
the
same
dull
sound
reached
them
again.
“I
know
now!”
Tom
shouted.
“Somebody’s
drowned!”
“That’s
it!”
said
Huck.
“They
did
that
last
summer
when
Bill
Turner
drowned.
They
shoot
a
cannon
over
the
water
to
make
him
come
up.
Yes,
and
they
put
quicksilver
in
bread
and
float
it.
The
bread
stops
where
the
body
is.”
