Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 16, Página 4
"Tom,
I
wish
you'd
come
too.
Think
about
it.
We'll
wait
for
you
at
the
shore."
"Well,
you'll
wait
a
long
time,
that's
all."
Huck
walked
away
sadly,
and
Tom
watched
him
with
a
strong
desire
to
join
them.
He
hoped
they
would
stop,
but
they
kept
walking.
It
suddenly
felt
very
lonely.
He
struggled
with
his
pride,
then
ran
after
them,
shouting:
"Wait!
Wait!
I
want
to
tell
you
something!"
They
stopped
and
turned
around.
When
Tom
reached
them,
he
began
to
share
his
secret.
They
listened
quietly
until
they
understood
his
plan,
then
they
cheered
and
said
it
was
"splendid!"
They
said
if
he
had
told
them
earlier,
they
wouldn't
have
left.
Tom
made
an
excuse,
but
he
had
kept
the
secret
as
a
last
resort
to
keep
them
with
him.
The
boys
came
back
happily
and
played
again,
talking
about
Tom's
great
plan.
After
a
nice
egg
and
fish
dinner,
Tom
said
he
wanted
to
learn
to
smoke.
Joe
liked
the
idea
too.
Huck
made
pipes
and
filled
them.
They
had
never
smoked
anything
but
grapevine
cigars
before,
which
weren't
very
good.
They
lay
on
their
elbows
and
began
to
puff
carefully.
The
smoke
tasted
bad,
and
they
gagged
a
little,
but
Tom
said:
"Why,
it's
easy!
If
I'd
known,
I'd
have
learned
long
ago."
