Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 24, Página 1
Tom
was
a
hero
again.
The
old
people
loved
him,
and
the
young
people
were
jealous.
His
name
was
in
the
village
paper.
Some
people
thought
he
might
be
President,
unless
he
got
into
trouble.
The
world
was
strange,
as
it
now
loved
Muff
Potter.
Before,
it
was
very
mean
to
him.
But
this
change
is
good,
so
we
should
not
complain.
Tom's
days
were
wonderful,
but
his
nights
were
scary.
Injun
Joe
was
in
all
his
dreams,
looking
dangerous.
Tom
was
too
scared
to
go
out
at
night.
Poor
Huck
felt
the
same
way.
Tom
had
told
the
lawyer
everything
before
the
trial,
and
Huck
was
scared
his
part
in
it
might
be
known.
Injun
Joe
ran
away,
so
Huck
did
not
have
to
speak
in
court.
Huck
made
the
lawyer
promise
to
keep
it
secret,
but
he
was
worried.
Tom
felt
guilty
and
went
to
the
lawyer’s
house
at
night
to
tell
the
story.
Huck's
trust
in
people
was
almost
gone.
Every
day,
Muff
Potter
thanked
Tom,
which
made
Tom
happy.
But
every
night,
Tom
wished
he
had
kept
quiet.
Sometimes
Tom
was
scared
Injun
Joe
would
never
be
caught;
other
times,
he
was
scared
he
would
be
caught.
Tom
thought
he
would
only
feel
safe
when
Injun
Joe
was
dead
and
he
had
seen
it.
People
offered
rewards
and
searched
everywhere,
but
no
one
found
Injun
Joe.
A
detective
came
from
St.
Louis.
He
looked
around,
thought
he
was
smart,
and
found
a
“clue.”
But
you
can't
catch
a
murderer
with
just
a
clue,
so
after
the
detective
left,
Tom
still
felt
unsafe.
The
days
went
by
slowly,
and
each
day
made
Tom
feel
a
little
less
worried.
