Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 30, Página 5
Huck
looked
into
the
old
man’s
honest
eyes
for
a
moment,
then
leaned
over
and
whispered
in
his
ear:
“It’s
not
a
Spaniard—it’s
Injun
Joe!”
The
Welshman
almost
jumped
out
of
his
chair.
In
a
moment
he
said:
“It’s
all
clear
now.
When
you
talked
about
cutting
ears
and
noses,
I
thought
you
were
making
it
up,
because
white
men
don’t
take
revenge
like
that.
But
an
Indian!
That’s
a
different
story.”
During
breakfast,
they
talked
more,
and
the
old
man
said
that
the
last
thing
he
and
his
sons
did
before
going
to
bed
was
to
get
a
lantern
and
check
the
stile
and
area
for
blood.
They
didn’t
find
any,
but
they
found
a
big
bundle
of—
“Of
what?”
If
the
words
had
been
lightning,
they
couldn’t
have
come
more
suddenly
from
Huck’s
pale
lips.
His
eyes
were
wide,
and
he
held
his
breath—waiting
for
the
answer.
The
Welshman
was
surprised—stared
back—three
seconds—five
seconds—ten—then
replied:
“Of
burglar’s
tools.
Why,
what’s
the
matter
with
you?”
