Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 34, Página 3
A
few
minutes
later,
the
widow's
guests
sat
at
the
supper
table.
A
dozen
children
sat
at
small
tables
nearby,
as
was
the
custom
then.
Mr.
Jones
made
a
speech.
He
thanked
the
widow
for
honoring
him
and
his
sons,
but
he
said
there
was
someone
else—
And
so
on.
He
revealed
his
secret
about
Huck
in
the
best
way
he
could,
but
the
surprise
was
not
very
real.
The
widow
acted
surprised
and
thanked
Huck
a
lot,
which
made
him
almost
forget
how
uncomfortable
he
was
in
his
new
clothes
because
everyone
was
looking
at
him.
The
widow
said
she
wanted
to
give
Huck
a
home
and
educate
him.
She
said
she
would
help
him
start
a
business
when
she
could.
Tom
saw
his
chance
and
said:
"Huck
doesn't
need
it.
Huck
is
rich."
The
people
tried
not
to
laugh
at
this
joke.
The
silence
was
a
bit
awkward.
Tom
broke
it:
"Huck
has
money.
Maybe
you
don't
believe
it,
but
he
has
lots.
Oh,
don't
smile—I
can
show
you.
Just
wait
a
minute."
Tom
ran
outside.
The
people
looked
at
each
other
and
then
at
Huck,
who
was
too
shy
to
speak.
"Sid,
what's
wrong
with
Tom?"
asked
Aunt
Polly.
"He—well,
I
can
never
understand
that
boy.
I
never—"
