The
dog
howled
again.
The
boys'
hearts
sank
once
more.
"Oh,

whispered
Huckleberry.

Tom,
shaking
with
fear,
gave
in
and
looked
through
the
crack.
His
whisper
was
barely
audible
when
he
said:
