Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 13, Página 5
They
built
a
fire
against
a
big
log,
twenty
or
thirty
steps
into
the
dark
forest.
They
cooked
some
bacon
in
a
frying
pan
for
supper
and
used
up
half
of
the
corn
bread
they
brought.
It
felt
amazing
to
feast
in
that
wild,
free
way
in
the
untouched
forest
of
an
unexplored
island,
far
from
people.
They
said
they
would
never
return
to
civilization.
The
fire
lit
up
their
faces
and
cast
a
warm
glow
on
the
tree
trunks
and
the
shiny
leaves
and
vines.
When
the
last
crispy
slice
of
bacon
was
gone
and
the
last
piece
of
corn
bread
eaten,
the
boys
lay
on
the
grass,
feeling
content.
They
could
have
found
a
cooler
spot,
but
they
didn’t
want
to
miss
the
romantic
feel
of
the
campfire.
“Isn’t
this
fun?”
said
Joe.
“It’s
great!”
said
Tom.
“What
would
the
boys
say
if
they
could
see
us?”
“Say?
They’d
just
wish
they
were
here—right,
Hucky?”
“I
think
so,”
said
Huckleberry.
“Anyway,
I’m
happy.
I
never
get
enough
to
eat
usually,
and
here
no
one
can
come
and
bother
me.”
“This
is
the
life
for
me,”
said
Tom.
“You
don’t
have
to
get
up
in
the
morning,
go
to
school,
or
wash,
and
all
that
silly
stuff.
A
pirate
doesn’t
have
to
do
anything,
Joe,
when
he’s
on
land.
But
a
hermit
has
to
pray
a
lot
and
doesn’t
have
any
fun
all
alone.”
“Oh
yes,
that’s
true,”
said
Joe,
“but
I
hadn’t
thought
about
it
much.
I’d
much
rather
be
a
pirate
now
that
I’ve
tried
it.”
