Joe
said.
“I
wonder
why
the
bread
does
that.”
"Oh,
it's
not
just
the
bread,"
said
Tom.
"I
think
it's
mainly
what
they
say
over
it
before
they
send
it
out."
"But
they
don't
say
anything
over
it,"
said
Huck.
"I've
watched
them,
and
they
don't."
"Well,
that's
strange,"
said
Tom.
"But
maybe
they
say
it
quietly
to
themselves.
Of
course,
they
do.
Anyone
could
guess
that."
The
other
boys
agreed
with
Tom.
They
thought
an
ordinary
piece
of
bread
wouldn't
know
what
to
do
without
some
kind
of
magic
words.
"I
wish
I
was
over
there
right
now,"
said
Joe.
"Me
too,"
said
Huck.
"I'd
give
a
lot
to
know
who
it
is."
The
boys
kept
listening
and
watching.
Suddenly,
an
idea
hit
Tom,
and
he
