Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 26, Página 9
"What
is
it?"
asked
his
partner.
"Half-rotten
plank—no,
it's
a
box,
I
think.
Here—give
me
a
hand,
and
we'll
see
what
it's
here
for.
Never
mind,
I've
made
a
hole."
He
reached
in
and
pulled
something
out—
"Man,
it's
money!"
The
two
men
looked
at
the
handful
of
coins.
They
were
gold.
The
boys
above
were
as
excited
and
happy
as
the
men.
Joe's
partner
said:
"Let's
do
this
quickly.
There's
an
old
rusty
pick
in
the
weeds
on
the
other
side
of
the
fireplace—I
saw
it
a
minute
ago."
He
ran
and
brought
the
boys'
pick
and
shovel.
Injun
Joe
took
the
pick,
examined
it
carefully,
shook
his
head,
muttered
something,
and
then
started
using
it.
The
box
was
soon
uncovered.
It
wasn't
very
big;
it
was
iron-bound
and
had
been
strong
before
the
years
weakened
it.
The
men
looked
at
the
treasure
in
blissful
silence.
