Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 35, Página 2
"Tom,
it
doesn't
matter.
I'm
not
everybody,
and
I
can't
stand
it.
It's
awful
to
be
so
tied
up.
Food
comes
too
easily—I
don't
care
for
it
that
way.
I
have
to
ask
to
go
fishing
or
swimming—I
have
to
ask
to
do
everything.
I
had
to
talk
so
nicely
that
I
wasn't
comfortable—I
had
to
go
up
to
the
attic
and
shout
just
to
feel
better,
or
I'd
have
died,
Tom.
The
widow
wouldn't
let
me
smoke
or
yell
or
stretch
in
front
of
people."
[Then
with
a
burst
of
frustration]
"And
she
prayed
all
the
time!
I
had
to
leave,
Tom—I
just
had
to.
And
school
is
starting
soon,
and
I
couldn't
stand
that,
Tom.
Being
rich
isn't
what
it's
supposed
to
be.
It's
just
worry
and
wishing
you
were
dead.
These
clothes
suit
me,
and
this
barrel
suits
me,
and
I'm
not
changing.
Tom,
I
wouldn't
have
gotten
into
this
mess
if
it
wasn't
for
the
money.
You
can
take
my
share
and
just
give
me
a
dime
sometimes—not
often
because
I
don't
want
things
unless
they're
hard
to
get—and
you
can
talk
to
the
widow
for
me."
"Oh,
Huck,
you
know
I
can't
do
that.
It
wouldn't
be
fair;
and
if
you
try
a
bit
longer,
you
might
like
it."
"Like
it!
Yes—the
way
I'd
like
a
hot
stove
if
I
sat
on
it
long
enough.
No,
Tom,
I
won't
be
rich,
and
I
won't
live
in
those
smothering
houses.
I
like
the
woods,
the
river,
and
barrels,
and
I'll
stick
to
them.
Just
as
we
got
guns
and
a
cave
ready
to
be
robbers,
this
foolishness
had
to
ruin
it!"
Tom
saw
his
chance—
"Look,
Huck,
being
rich
won't
stop
me
from
becoming
a
robber."
"No!
Oh,
really;
are
you
serious,
Tom?"
"As
serious
as
I'm
sitting
here.
But
Huck,
we
can't
let
you
join
the
gang
if
you're
not
respectable."
Huck's
happiness
faded.
