Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 4, Página 6
There
was
only
one
thing
missing
for
Mr.
Walters
to
be
completely
happy.
He
needed
a
chance
to
give
out
a
Bible
prize
and
show
a
star
student.
Some
pupils
had
yellow
tickets,
but
not
enough.
He
wished
he
had
the
German
boy
back
with
a
sound
mind.
At
that
moment,
when
hope
seemed
lost,
Tom
Sawyer
stepped
forward.
He
had
nine
yellow
tickets,
nine
red
tickets,
and
ten
blue
ones,
and
he
asked
for
a
Bible.
This
was
a
huge
surprise.
Walters
didn’t
expect
this
from
Tom
for
another
ten
years.
But
the
tickets
were
valid,
so
Tom
was
honored
alongside
the
Judge
and
others.
The
news
was
announced,
and
it
was
the
biggest
surprise
of
the
decade.
The
school
now
had
two
stars
to
admire
instead
of
one.
The
boys
were
filled
with
envy,
especially
those
who
realized
they
had
traded
tickets
to
Tom
for
his
whitewashing
privileges.
They
felt
foolish
for
being
tricked
by
Tom.
The
prize
was
given
to
Tom
with
as
much
enthusiasm
as
the
superintendent
could
manage.
But
it
wasn’t
genuine
because
he
sensed
something
was
off.
It
seemed
impossible
that
Tom
had
learned
two
thousand
Bible
verses—just
a
dozen
would
be
hard
for
him.
Amy
Lawrence
felt
proud
and
happy,
and
she
tried
to
show
Tom
with
her
expression,
but
he
wouldn’t
look.
She
wondered
why,
then
felt
a
bit
troubled.
A
suspicion
came
and
went,
and
she
watched
closely.
A
quick
look
from
Tom
told
her
everything,
and
then
her
heart
broke.
She
felt
jealous,
angry,
and
tears
came.
She
hated
everyone,
especially
Tom.
Tom
was
introduced
to
the
Judge,
but
he
was
too
nervous
to
speak.
His
heart
pounded,
partly
because
the
Judge
was
important,
but
mainly
because
he
was
her
father.
Tom
wanted
to
worship
him
if
it
were
dark.
The
Judge
placed
his
hand
on
Tom’s
head
and
called
him
a
fine
little
man,
asking
his
name.
Tom
stammered
and
finally
said:
“Tom.”
“Oh,
no,
not
Tom—it
is—”
“Thomas.”
