Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 7, Página 9
"Oh,
Tom!
I’m
not
the
first
you
were
engaged
to!"
Becky
started
to
cry.
Tom
said:
"Oh,
don’t
cry,
Becky.
I
don’t
care
about
her
anymore."
"Yes,
you
do,
Tom—you
know
you
do."
Tom
tried
to
put
his
arm
around
her
neck,
but
she
pushed
him
away.
She
turned
her
face
to
the
wall
and
kept
crying.
Tom
tried
again,
speaking
softly,
but
she
rejected
him.
Then
he
felt
proud
and
walked
away,
going
outside.
He
stood
there,
restless
and
uneasy,
looking
at
the
door,
hoping
she
would
change
her
mind
and
come
to
him.
But
she
didn't.
Then
he
started
to
feel
bad
and
worried
he
was
wrong.
It
was
hard
for
him
to
try
again,
but
he
found
the
courage
and
went
back
inside.
She
was
still
in
the
corner,
crying
with
her
face
to
the
wall.
Tom
felt
guilty.
He
went
to
her
and
stood
there,
unsure
of
what
to
do
next.
Then
he
said
hesitantly:
"Becky,
I—I
don’t
care
about
anyone
but
you."
No
answer—just
sobs.
"Becky,"
he
pleaded.
"Becky,
won’t
you
say
something?"
