Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 25, Página 11
"All
right.
Let's
hide
the
tools
in
the
bushes."
The
boys
showed
up
that
night
at
the
agreed
time.
They
sat
quietly
in
the
shadows,
waiting.
It
was
a
lonely
spot,
with
an
hour
steeped
in
old
traditions.
The
wind
whispered
through
the
leaves,
ghosts
seemed
to
hide
in
the
dark
corners,
and
the
distant
howl
of
a
dog
echoed.
An
owl
responded
with
its
eerie
call.
The
boys
felt
subdued
by
the
atmosphere
and
spoke
little.
Eventually,
they
guessed
it
was
midnight;
they
noted
where
the
shadow
fell
and
started
digging.
Their
hopes
began
to
rise.
Their
interest
grew,
and
they
worked
harder.
The
hole
got
deeper
and
deeper,
but
each
time
the
pick
hit
something,
their
hearts
raced
with
hope,
only
to
be
let
down.
It
was
just
a
stone
or
a
piece
of
wood.
Finally,
Tom
said:
“It’s
no
use,
Huck,
we’re
wrong
again.”
“But
we
can’t
be
wrong.
We
marked
the
shadow
exactly.”
“I
know,
but
there’s
something
else.”
“What’s
that?”
“Well,
we
just
guessed
the
time.
Maybe
it
was
too
late
or
too
early.”
Huck
put
down
his
shovel.
