Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 27, Página 1
The
day's
adventure
haunted
Tom's
dreams
that
night.
Four
times
he
grasped
that
treasure,
and
four
times
it
vanished
into
nothing
as
he
woke
up,
faced
with
the
harsh
reality
of
his
bad
luck.
As
he
lay
in
bed
early
in
the
morning,
recalling
the
events
of
his
grand
adventure,
they
seemed
distant
and
muted,
as
if
they
had
happened
in
another
world
or
a
long
time
ago.
Then,
a
thought
struck
him:
maybe
the
great
adventure
was
just
a
dream!
A
strong
argument
supported
this
idea—the
amount
of
money
he
saw
was
too
vast
to
be
real.
He
had
never
seen
fifty
dollars
in
one
place
before,
and
like
all
boys
his
age
and
status,
he
thought
references
to
"hundreds"
and
"thousands"
were
just
imaginary
figures
of
speech,
not
real
sums
of
money.
He
never
believed
that
anyone
actually
had
a
hundred
dollars
in
real
money.
If
someone
had
analyzed
his
ideas
about
hidden
treasure,
they
would
find
a
small
handful
of
real
coins
and
a
heap
of
vague,
magnificent,
but
unreachable
dollars.
However,
as
he
thought
more
about
the
adventure,
the
details
became
clearer
and
sharper.
Soon,
he
started
to
believe
that
maybe
it
wasn't
a
dream
after
all.
This
uncertainty
needed
to
be
resolved.
He
decided
to
have
a
quick
breakfast
and
go
find
Huck.
Huck
was
sitting
on
the
edge
of
a
flatboat,
lazily
dipping
his
feet
in
the
water
and
looking
quite
sad.
Tom
decided
to
let
Huck
bring
up
the
topic.
If
he
didn't,
then
the
adventure
was
just
a
dream.
"Hello,
Huck!"
"Hello,
yourself."
They
sat
in
silence
for
a
moment.
"Tom,
if
we
had
left
the
tools
at
the
dead
tree,
we’d
have
got
the
money.
Oh,
isn’t
it
awful!"
"So
it’s
not
a
dream,
then,
not
a
dream!
Somehow
I
almost
wish
it
was.
I
swear
I
do,
Huck."
