Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 6, Página 1
Monday
morning
found
Tom
Sawyer
feeling
miserable.
It
always
did—because
it
meant
the
start
of
another
long
week
of
suffering
at
school.
He
usually
began
the
day
wishing
there
hadn't
been
a
weekend,
as
returning
to
the
confinement
of
school
felt
even
worse
after
a
holiday.
Tom
lay
there
thinking.
He
suddenly
wished
he
was
sick;
then
he
could
stay
home
from
school.
This
was
a
vague
possibility.
He
examined
himself
for
any
signs
of
illness.
Finding
none,
he
checked
again.
This
time,
he
thought
he
felt
some
colicky
symptoms
and
started
to
encourage
them
with
hope.
But
soon
they
faded
away
completely.
He
thought
some
more.
Then
he
realized
something:
one
of
his
upper
front
teeth
was
loose.
This
was
fortunate;
he
was
about
to
start
groaning
as
a
"starter,"
as
he
called
it,
when
he
remembered
that
if
he
used
that
excuse,
his
aunt
would
just
pull
it
out,
which
would
hurt.
So,
he
decided
to
save
that
excuse
for
later
and
kept
thinking.
After
a
while,
he
recalled
hearing
the
doctor
talk
about
something
that
could
keep
a
patient
in
bed
for
weeks
and
might
even
lead
to
losing
a
finger.
So,
he
eagerly
pulled
his
sore
toe
from
under
the
sheet
and
examined
it.
But
he
didn’t
know
the
symptoms
he
needed.
Still,
it
seemed
worth
a
try,
so
he
started
groaning
with
enthusiasm.
But
Sid
continued
to
sleep,
unaware.
Tom
groaned
louder
and
imagined
he
was
beginning
to
feel
pain
in
his
toe.
Sid
remained
unresponsive.
By
now,
Tom
was
panting
from
his
efforts.
He
took
a
break,
then
swelled
himself
up
and
let
out
a
series
of
impressive
groans.
Sid
snored
on.
Tom
was
frustrated.
He
said,
“Sid,
Sid!”
and
shook
him.
This
worked,
and
Tom
started
groaning
again.
Sid
yawned,
stretched,
then
propped
himself
up
on
his
elbow
with
a
start
and
began
to
stare
at
Tom.
Tom
continued
groaning.
Sid
asked:
