Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 8, Página 2
The
sand
began
to
move,
and
soon
a
small
black
bug
appeared
briefly
before
darting
back
under
in
fear.
“He
daren’t
tell!
So
it
was
a
witch
that
did
it.
I
just
knew
it.”
He
knew
it
was
pointless
to
fight
against
witches,
so
he
gave
up,
discouraged.
But
he
thought
he
might
as
well
retrieve
the
marble
he
had
thrown
away,
so
he
searched
for
it
patiently.
But
he
couldn't
find
it.
He
returned
to
his
treasure
box
and
positioned
himself
as
he
had
been
when
he
tossed
the
marble,
then
took
another
marble
from
his
pocket
and
tossed
it
the
same
way,
saying:
“Brother,
go
find
your
brother!”
He
watched
where
it
landed
and
went
to
look.
But
it
must
have
fallen
short
or
gone
too
far,
so
he
tried
twice
more.
The
last
attempt
was
successful.
The
two
marbles
were
within
a
foot
of
each
other.
Just
then,
the
sound
of
a
toy
tin
trumpet
echoed
faintly
through
the
forest.
Tom
quickly
removed
his
jacket
and
trousers,
turned
a
suspender
into
a
belt,
cleared
some
brush
behind
the
log,
revealing
a
simple
bow
and
arrow,
a
wooden
sword,
and
a
tin
trumpet.
In
moments,
he
grabbed
these
items
and
dashed
away,
barelegged,
with
his
shirt
flapping.
He
soon
stopped
under
a
large
elm,
blew
an
answering
blast,
and
began
to
move
cautiously,
looking
around
carefully.
He
said
to
an
imaginary
group:
“Hold,
my
merry
men!
Stay
hidden
till
I
blow.”
Joe
Harper
appeared,
just
as
lightly
dressed
and
armed
as
Tom.
Tom
called
out:
