El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 1, Página 18
"She
should
not
call
at
dinner
time.
Don't
you
think?"
Before
I
understood,
Daisy
and
Tom
came
back.
"It
couldn't
be
helped!"
Daisy
said,
trying
to
be
happy.
She
sat
down.
She
looked
at
Miss
Baker
and
then
at
me.
She
said,
“I
looked
outside.
It
is
very
nice.
There
is
a
bird
on
the
grass.
I
think
it
is
a
nightingale.
It
came
on
a
ship.
It
is
singing.”
Her
voice
sang,
“Isn't
it
nice,
Tom?”
“Very
nice,”
he
said.
Then
he
said
to
me,
“If
it
is
still
light
after
dinner,
I
want
to
take
you
to
the
stables.”
The
phone
rang
inside.
It
was
loud.
Daisy
shook
her
head
at
Tom.
We
did
not
talk
about
the
stables
again.
The
candles
were
lit
again.
I
wanted
to
look
at
everyone,
but
I
did
not.
I
did
not
know
what
Daisy
and
Tom
were
thinking.
Miss
Baker
was
quiet.
She
knew
something
was
wrong.
I
felt
like
calling
the
police.
