El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 2, Página 9
We
went
on.
We
drove
through
the
Park
to
the
West
Hundreds.
At
158th
Street,
the
cab
stopped
at
a
big
white
building.
Mrs.
Wilson
took
her
dog
and
other
things.
She
walked
inside
proudly.
"I'm
going
to
have
the
McKees
come
up,"
she
said
in
the
elevator.
"And
I
must
call
my
sister,
too."
The
apartment
was
on
the
top
floor.
It
had
a
small
living-room,
dining-room,
bedroom,
and
bath.
The
living-room
was
full
of
big
furniture.
It
was
hard
to
move
around.
There
was
one
big
picture.
It
looked
like
a
hen
on
a
rock.
But
really,
it
was
an
old
lady's
face.
Some
magazines
were
on
the
table.
Mrs.
Wilson
took
care
of
the
dog
first.
An
elevator
boy
brought
straw,
milk,
and
dog
biscuits.
Tom
took
out
a
bottle
of
whisky.
I
was
drunk
twice
in
my
life.
The
second
time
was
that
afternoon.
Everything
was
unclear,
but
the
sun
was
bright.
Mrs.
Wilson
sat
on
Tom’s
lap
and
called
people.
Then
there
were
no
cigarettes.
I
went
to
buy
some.
When
I
came
back,
they
were
gone.
I
sat
and
read
a
book.
It
made
no
sense
to
me.
Tom
and
Myrtle
came
back.
Then
people
started
to
arrive.
Catherine
was
Myrtle's
sister.
She
was
about
thirty.
She
had
red
hair
and
white
skin.
Her
eyebrows
were
thin
and
drawn
on.
She
wore
many
bracelets
that
made
noise.
She
looked
at
the
furniture
like
she
owned
it.
I
asked
if
she
lived
there.
She
laughed
and
said
she
lived
at
a
hotel
with
a
friend.
