El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 16
"Ladies
and
gentlemen,"
he
shouted.
"Mr.
Gatsby
asked
us
to
play
Mr.
Vladmir
Tostoff’s
new
song.
It
was
very
famous
at
Carnegie
Hall
last
May.
If
you
read
the
papers,
you
know
it
was
a
big
sensation."
He
smiled
and
added,
"Some
sensation!"
Everyone
laughed.
"The
song
is
called,"
he
finished,
"‘Vladmir
Tostoff’s
Jazz
History
of
the
World!’ "
I
did
not
understand
Mr.
Tostoff’s
music
because
I
saw
Gatsby
then.
He
stood
alone
on
the
marble
steps,
looking
at
people
with
happy
eyes.
His
skin
was
tan
and
tight
on
his
face,
and
his
hair
looked
like
it
was
cut
every
day.
He
did
not
look
bad.
I
wondered
if
he
did
not
drink
because
he
seemed
different
from
his
guests.
When
the
"Jazz
History
of
the
World"
ended,
girls
leaned
on
men’s
shoulders,
and
they
fell
playfully
into
men’s
arms,
but
no
one
leaned
on
Gatsby.
No
one
touched
his
shoulder,
and
no
one
sang
with
him.
"I
beg
your
pardon."
Gatsby’s
butler
stood
next
to
us.
"Miss
Baker?"
he
asked.
"I
beg
your
pardon,
but
Mr.
Gatsby
wants
to
talk
to
you
alone."
