El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 8, Página 18
Michaelis
saw
George
looking
at
a
big
sign.
It
had
eyes
on
it.
"God
sees
everything,"
George
said.
"That's
an
ad,"
Michaelis
said.
He
turned
away.
George
stayed
by
the
window,
nodding.
By
six
o'clock,
Michaelis
was
tired.
A
car
stopped
outside.
It
was
a
man
from
the
night
before.
He
cooked
breakfast
for
three.
He
and
the
other
man
ate.
George
was
quieter.
Michaelis
went
home
to
sleep.
When
he
came
back,
George
was
gone.
George
walked
to
Port
Roosevelt
and
Gad's
Hill.
He
bought
a
sandwich
and
coffee.
He
walked
slowly.
He
reached
Gad's
Hill
at
noon.
People
saw
him
acting
strange.
Then
he
disappeared
for
three
hours.
The
police
thought
he
asked
about
a
yellow
car.
But
no
one
saw
him.
By
two-thirty,
he
was
in
West
Egg.
He
asked
for
Gatsby's
house.
He
knew
Gatsby's
name.
At
two
o'clock,
Gatsby
put
on
his
swimsuit.
He
told
the
butler
to
find
him
at
the
pool
if
someone
called.
He
stopped
at
the
garage
for
a
mattress.
The
chauffeur
helped
him.
He
said
the
car
must
not
go
out.
The
front
fender
needed
repair.
