El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 2, Página 20
"Crazy
about
him!"
cried
Myrtle,
surprised.
"Who
said
I
was
crazy
about
him?
I
never
was
more
crazy
about
him
than
I
am
about
that
man
there."
She
pointed
at
me
suddenly,
and
everyone
looked
at
me.
I
tried
to
show
I
expected
no
affection.
"The
only
crazy
I
was
was
when
I
married
him.
I
knew
I
made
a
mistake
right
away.
He
borrowed
someone's
best
suit
to
marry
me
and
didn't
tell
me.
The
man
came
for
it
one
day
when
he
was
out:
'Oh,
is
that
your
suit?'
I
said.
'This
is
the
first
I
heard
about
it.'
I
gave
it
back
and
then
cried
all
afternoon."
"She
really
should
leave
him,"
Catherine
said
to
me.
"They've
lived
over
that
garage
for
eleven
years.
Tom
is
the
first
sweetie
she
ever
had."
The
second
bottle
of
whisky
was
now
in
demand
by
everyone,
except
Catherine,
who
"felt
just
as
good
on
nothing
at
all."
Tom
called
for
the
janitor
and
sent
him
for
some
famous
sandwiches,
which
were
a
full
meal.
I
wanted
to
walk
toward
the
park
through
the
soft
evening,
but
each
time
I
tried
to
leave,
an
argument
pulled
me
back
into
my
chair.
Yet
high
above
the
city,
our
yellow
windows
added
to
the
secrets
of
the
night,
and
I
saw
someone
looking
up
and
wondering.
I
was
inside
and
outside,
both
enchanted
and
repelled
by
life's
endless
variety.
Myrtle
moved
her
chair
close
to
mine
and
told
me
about
her
first
meeting
with
Tom.
