El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 26
He
hesitated.
"No
harm
in
trying,"
he
said.
The
loud
horns
got
even
louder.
I
turned
away
and
walked
across
the
lawn
toward
home.
I
looked
back
once.
A
thin
moon
shone
over
Gatsby's
house,
making
the
night
beautiful
again.
It
was
like
before,
with
laughter
and
the
sound
of
his
glowing
garden.
But
now,
the
windows
and
doors
felt
empty.
The
host
stood
on
the
porch,
waving
goodbye.
When
I
read
what
I
wrote
so
far,
I
see
it
seems
like
only
a
few
nights
mattered
to
me.
But
really,
these
were
just
events
in
a
busy
summer.
My
personal
life
interested
me
more
until
much
later.
Most
of
the
time
I
worked.
In
the
morning,
the
sun
made
my
shadow
long
as
I
hurried
to
work
in
New
York.
I
knew
the
other
clerks
and
bond-salesmen
by
name,
and
we
ate
lunch
together
in
busy
restaurants.
I
had
a
short
romance
with
a
girl
from
Jersey
City,
but
her
brother
didn't
like
me.
So
when
she
went
on
vacation,
I
let
it
end
quietly.
I
usually
had
dinner
at
the
Yale
Club.
It
was
the
saddest
part
of
my
day.
Then
I
went
to
the
library
and
studied
investments
for
an
hour.
There
were
some
noisy
people
around,
but
they
never
came
into
the
library,
so
it
was
a
good
place
to
work.
After
that,
if
the
night
was
nice,
I
walked
down
Madison
Avenue
past
the
old
Murray
Hill
Hotel
and
over
to
Pennsylvania
Station.
