El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 7
The
first
supper—another
would
come
after
midnight—was
served,
and
Jordan
invited
me
to
join
her
party.
They
sat
around
a
table
on
the
other
side
of
the
garden.
There
were
three
married
couples
and
Jordan's
date,
a
college
student
who
liked
to
make
bold
jokes.
He
thought
Jordan
would
eventually
like
him
more.
This
group
stayed
together
and
acted
like
they
were
the
important
people
from
East
Egg,
looking
down
on
West
Egg
and
its
wild
fun.
"Let's
get
out,"
whispered
Jordan
after
a
boring
half-hour.
"This
is
too
polite
for
me."
We
stood
up,
and
she
said
we
were
going
to
find
the
host.
I
had
never
met
him,
and
it
made
me
feel
strange.
The
college
student
nodded,
looking
a
bit
sad.
The
bar
was
crowded,
but
Gatsby
wasn't
there.
Jordan
couldn't
see
him
from
the
steps,
and
he
wasn't
on
the
veranda.
We
tried
a
big
door
and
walked
into
a
tall
library
with
dark
wood
walls,
maybe
brought
from
an
old
place
overseas.
A
big
man
with
large
glasses
sat
on
the
edge
of
a
table,
looking
at
the
books.
He
was
a
little
drunk.
When
we
came
in,
he
turned
around
and
looked
at
Jordan.
"What
do
you
think?"
he
asked
quickly.
