El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 5, Página 1
When
I
came
home
to
West
Egg
that
night,
I
was
afraid
my
house
was
on
fire.
It
was
two
o'clock,
and
the
whole
corner
of
the
peninsula
was
full
of
light.
It
looked
strange
on
the
bushes
and
made
long
glints
on
the
wires
by
the
road.
Turning
a
corner,
I
saw
it
was
Gatsby’s
house,
lit
from
top
to
bottom.
At
first,
I
thought
it
was
another
party.
Maybe
they
were
playing
games
like
"hide-and-seek"
with
the
whole
house
open.
But
there
was
no
sound.
Only
the
wind
in
the
trees,
moving
the
wires
and
making
the
lights
flicker
as
if
the
house
winked.
As
my
taxi
drove
away,
I
saw
Gatsby
walking
toward
me
across
his
lawn.
“Your
place
looks
like
the
World’s
Fair,”
I
said.
“Does
it?”
He
looked
at
it
without
much
interest.
“I
have
been
looking
into
some
rooms.
Let’s
go
to
Coney
Island,
old
sport.
In
my
car.”
“It’s
too
late.”
“Well,
how
about
a
swim
in
the
pool?
I
haven’t
used
it
all
summer.”
