El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 6, Página 23
…
One
autumn
night,
five
years
before,
they
walked
down
a
street
when
leaves
were
falling.
They
reached
a
place
with
no
trees,
and
the
sidewalk
was
white
with
moonlight.
They
stopped
and
turned
to
each
other.
It
was
a
cool
night,
full
of
excitement.
The
house
lights
hummed
into
the
dark,
and
stars
moved
above.
Out
of
the
corner
of
his
eye,
Gatsby
saw
the
sidewalks
formed
a
ladder
to
a
secret
place
above
the
trees.
He
could
climb
it
alone
and
find
a
world
of
wonder.
His
heart
beat
faster
as
Daisy’s
white
face
came
closer.
He
knew
when
he
kissed
her,
his
dreams
would
join
her
breath
forever,
and
his
mind
would
never
be
free
again.
He
waited,
listening
to
the
music
of
the
stars.
Then
he
kissed
her.
At
his
lips’
touch,
she
blossomed
like
a
flower,
and
his
dream
was
complete.
Through
all
he
said,
even
with
his
strong
feelings,
I
remembered
something—a
lost
rhythm,
a
piece
of
forgotten
words,
I
heard
long
ago.
For
a
moment,
a
phrase
almost
formed
in
my
mouth,
and
my
lips
parted
like
a
silent
man’s,
as
if
there
was
more
there
than
just
a
breath.
But
they
made
no
sound,
and
what
I
almost
remembered
was
lost
forever.
