El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 7, Página 42
“Oh—that’s
all.”
Tom
touched
his
fingers
together
like
a
preacher
and
leaned
back
in
his
chair.
“You’re
crazy!”
he
shouted.
“I
can’t
talk
about
five
years
ago,
because
I
didn’t
know
Daisy
then—and
I
don’t
see
how
you
got
near
her
unless
you
brought
groceries
to
the
back
door.
But
all
that’s
a
lie.
Daisy
loved
me
when
she
married
me
and
she
loves
me
now.”
“No,”
said
Gatsby,
shaking
his
head.
“She
does.
The
problem
is
she
sometimes
gets
silly
ideas
and
doesn’t
know
what
she’s
doing.”
He
nodded
wisely.
“And
I
love
Daisy
too.
Sometimes
I
do
foolish
things,
but
I
always
come
back,
and
in
my
heart
I
love
her
all
the
time.”
“You’re
awful,”
said
Daisy.
She
turned
to
me,
and
her
voice,
lower,
filled
the
room
with
sharp
scorn:
“Do
you
know
why
we
left
Chicago?
I’m
surprised
they
didn’t
tell
you
about
that
little
problem.”
Gatsby
walked
over
and
stood
beside
her.
