El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 7, Página 68
"How
long
will
you
wait?"
"All
night,
if
needed.
Until
they
all
go
to
bed."
A
new
thought
came
to
me.
What
if
Tom
found
out
Daisy
was
driving?
He
might
see
a
connection—he
might
think
anything.
I
looked
at
the
house;
there
were
bright
windows
downstairs
and
a
pink
glow
from
Daisy’s
room
on
the
ground
floor.
"You
wait
here,"
I
said.
"I'll
see
if
there's
any
trouble."
I
walked
back
along
the
edge
of
the
lawn.
I
crossed
the
gravel
quietly
and
went
up
the
veranda
steps.
The
curtains
in
the
drawing-room
were
open,
and
I
saw
that
the
room
was
empty.
I
crossed
the
porch
where
we
had
dinner
that
June
night
three
months
ago.
I
saw
a
small
light
from
the
pantry
window.
The
blind
was
down,
but
there
was
a
small
gap
at
the
bottom.
Daisy
and
Tom
sat
across
from
each
other
at
the
kitchen
table.
A
plate
of
cold
fried
chicken
was
between
them,
and
there
were
two
bottles
of
ale.
He
talked
seriously
to
her,
and
his
hand
covered
hers
on
the
table.
Sometimes
she
looked
at
him
and
nodded.
