El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 8, Página 2
“Go
to
Atlantic
City
for
a
week,
or
to
Montreal.”
He
didn’t
want
to
leave.
He
couldn’t
leave
Daisy
until
he
knew
her
plans.
He
held
onto
hope,
and
I
couldn’t
tell
him
to
stop.
That
night
he
told
me
about
his
past
with
Dan
Cody.
He
told
me
because
“Jay
Gatsby”
was
broken
by
Tom’s
anger.
The
secret
story
was
over.
He
would
admit
anything
now,
but
he
wanted
to
talk
about
Daisy.
She
was
the
first
“nice”
girl
he
knew.
He
met
people
like
her
before,
but
there
was
always
a
barrier.
He
found
her
very
exciting.
He
went
to
her
house
first
with
other
officers,
then
alone.
He
was
amazed—he
had
never
seen
such
a
beautiful
house.
Daisy
made
it
special.
It
was
normal
for
her,
like
his
tent
was
for
him.
The
house
had
a
mystery,
with
beautiful
rooms
and
happy
activities.
It
excited
him
that
many
men
loved
Daisy.
It
made
her
more
valuable
to
him.
He
felt
their
presence
in
the
house,
with
emotions
still
alive.
But
he
knew
he
was
in
Daisy’s
house
by
chance.
No
matter
how
great
his
future
as
Jay
Gatsby,
he
was
a
poor
young
man
without
a
past.
His
uniform
could
be
gone
any
time.
So
he
made
the
most
of
his
time.
He
took
what
he
could,
without
care.
He
took
Daisy
one
night,
because
he
had
no
real
right
to
even
hold
her
hand.
He
might
have
hated
himself,
for
he
took
her
under
false
ideas.
He
didn’t
lie
about
money,
but
he
let
Daisy
believe
he
was
like
her.
He
let
her
think
he
could
take
care
of
her.
In
truth,
he
had
no
such
support.
He
had
no
family
behind
him,
and
the
government
could
send
him
anywhere.
