El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 2, Página 3
“No,
he
doesn’t,”
Tom
replied
coldly.
“If
you
feel
that
way,
maybe
I’ll
sell
it
somewhere
else.”
“I
don’t
mean
that,”
Wilson
quickly
said.
“I
just
meant—”
His
voice
trailed
off,
and
Tom
looked
impatiently
around
the
garage.
Then
I
heard
footsteps
on
stairs,
and
soon
a
woman
blocked
the
light
from
the
office
door.
She
was
in
her
mid-thirties,
a
bit
plump,
but
she
carried
herself
in
a
way
that
was
attractive.
Her
face,
above
a
spotted
dark
blue
dress,
wasn’t
beautiful,
but
she
had
a
strong
presence.
She
smiled
slowly,
walked
past
her
husband
like
he
was
invisible,
and
shook
hands
with
Tom,
looking
him
straight
in
the
eye.
Then
she
licked
her
lips
and
spoke
to
her
husband
in
a
soft,
rough
voice:
“Get
some
chairs,
why
don’t
you,
so
somebody
can
sit
down.”
“Oh,
sure,”
Wilson
agreed
quickly,
going
to
the
office.
The
white
dust
covered
his
dark
suit
and
pale
hair,
as
it
covered
everything
around—except
his
wife,
who
moved
closer
to
Tom.
“I
want
to
see
you,”
said
Tom
seriously.
“Get
on
the
next
train.”
