El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 18
I
looked
around.
Most
of
the
remaining
women
were
now
fighting
with
men
said
to
be
their
husbands.
Even
Jordan’s
group,
the
quartet
from
East
Egg,
was
split
by
arguments.
One
man
talked
intensely
to
a
young
actress,
and
his
wife,
after
trying
to
laugh
it
off,
broke
down
and
attacked
him.
She
appeared
suddenly
at
his
side
like
an
angry
diamond,
whispering,
"You
promised!"
in
his
ear.
The
reluctance
to
go
home
wasn’t
only
among
the
men.
The
hall
was
now
occupied
by
two
very
sober
men
and
their
very
angry
wives.
The
wives
were
sympathizing
with
each
other
loudly.
"Whenever
he
sees
I'm
having
fun,
he
wants
to
leave."
"I've
never
heard
anything
so
selfish."
"We’re
always
the
first
to
leave."
"So
are
we."
