El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 21
"Good
night."
"Good
night."
He
smiled,
and
suddenly
it
felt
special
to
be
among
the
last
to
leave,
as
if
he
had
wanted
it
that
way.
"Good
night,
old
sport...
Good
night."
But
as
I
walked
down
the
steps,
I
saw
the
night
wasn’t
quite
over.
Fifty
feet
from
the
door,
a
dozen
headlights
lit
up
a
strange
and
chaotic
scene.
In
a
ditch
beside
the
road,
right
side
up
but
missing
a
wheel,
was
a
new
coupé
that
had
left
Gatsby’s
drive
minutes
before.
The
sharp
edge
of
a
wall
had
knocked
off
the
wheel,
which
now
got
a
lot
of
attention
from
several
curious
chauffeurs.
Their
cars
blocked
the
road,
making
a
loud,
discordant
noise
from
those
behind,
adding
to
the
chaos.
A
man
in
a
long
coat
got
off
the
wrecked
car.
He
stood
in
the
middle
of
the
road,
looking
from
the
car
to
the
tire
and
then
to
the
people
watching,
with
a
pleasant
but
puzzled
expression.
"See!"
he
said.
"It
went
into
the
ditch."
This
fact
amazed
him,
and
I
first
noticed
his
unusual
sense
of
wonder.
Then
I
recognized
the
man—it
was
the
same
one
who
admired
Gatsby’s
library.
