El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 4, Página 22
"I’ve
been
having
lunch
with
Mr.
Gatsby."
I
turned
to
Mr.
Gatsby,
but
he
was
already
gone.
One
October
day
in
1917—
(said
Jordan
Baker
that
afternoon,
sitting
very
straight
on
a
chair
in
the
tea-garden
at
the
Plaza
Hotel)
—I
was
walking
from
one
place
to
another,
half
on
the
sidewalks
and
half
on
the
lawns.
I
liked
the
lawns
more
because
I
wore
shoes
from
England
with
rubber
knobs
that
gripped
the
soft
ground.
I
also
wore
a
new
plaid
skirt
that
blew
a
little
in
the
wind,
and
when
it
did,
the
red,
white,
and
blue
banners
in
front
of
the
houses
stretched
out
and
made
a
tut-tut-tut-tut
sound,
as
if
they
disapproved.
The
biggest
banner
and
the
largest
lawn
belonged
to
Daisy
Fay’s
house.
She
was
eighteen,
two
years
older
than
me,
and
the
most
popular
girl
in
Louisville.
She
dressed
in
white,
had
a
little
white
car,
and
all
day
long
the
phone
rang
at
her
house.
Excited
young
officers
from
Camp
Taylor
wanted
to
spend
time
with
her
that
night.
"At
least
for
an
hour!"
