El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 7, Página 23
“Listen,
Tom.
If
you’re
such
a
snob,
why
did
you
invite
him
to
lunch?”
Jordan
asked
crossly.
“Daisy
invited
him;
she
knew
him
before
we
got
married—God
knows
where!”
We
were
all
irritable
now,
the
effects
of
the
ale
fading,
and
aware
of
it,
we
drove
in
silence.
Then,
as
the
faded
eyes
of
Doctor
T.
J.
Eckleburg
came
into
view,
I
remembered
Gatsby’s
warning
about
the
gasoline.
“We’ve
got
enough
to
get
us
to
town,”
Tom
said.
“But
there’s
a
garage
right
here,”
Jordan
objected.
“I
don’t
want
to
get
stuck
in
this
heat.”
Tom
impatiently
hit
both
brakes,
and
we
stopped
abruptly
in
the
dust
under
Wilson’s
sign.
The
owner
came
out
and
looked
at
the
car
with
tired
eyes.
