El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 15
"However,
I
don't
believe
it."
"Why
not?"
"I
don't
know,"
she
insisted,
"I
just
don't
think
he
attended
there."
Her
tone
reminded
me
of
the
other
girl's
comment,
"I
think
he
killed
a
man,"
which
piqued
my
curiosity.
I
might
have
accepted
without
question
if
someone
said
Gatsby
came
from
the
swamps
of
Louisiana
or
from
the
lower
East
Side
of
New
York.
That
made
sense.
But
young
men
didn't—at
least
in
my
limited
experience
I
thought
they
didn't—come
out
of
nowhere
and
buy
a
mansion
on
Long
Island
Sound.
"Anyway,
he
throws
big
parties,"
said
Jordan,
shifting
the
subject
with
a
city
dweller's
dislike
for
specifics.
"And
I
like
big
parties.
They're
so
private.
At
small
parties,
there's
no
privacy."
There
was
the
deep
sound
of
a
bass
drum,
and
the
orchestra
leader's
voice
suddenly
rose
above
the
garden's
chatter.
