El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 3, Página 18
I
looked
around.
Most
of
the
remaining
women
were
now
arguing
with
men
who
were
said
to
be
their
husbands.
Even
Jordan's
group,
the
quartet
from
East
Egg,
was
torn
apart
by
disagreements.
One
man
was
talking
intensely
to
a
young
actress,
and
his
wife,
after
trying
to
laugh
it
off
in
a
dignified
and
indifferent
manner,
broke
down
completely
and
resorted
to
sudden
attacks—occasionally
appearing
at
his
side
like
an
angry
diamond,
hissing:
"You
promised!"
into
his
ear.
The
reluctance
to
go
home
wasn't
limited
to
the
unruly
men.
The
hall
was
currently
occupied
by
two
sober
men
and
their
very
angry
wives.
The
wives
were
sympathizing
with
each
other
in
slightly
raised
voices.
"Whenever
he
sees
I'm
having
a
good
time,
he
wants
to
leave."
"Never
heard
anything
so
selfish
in
my
life."
"We're
always
the
first
ones
to
go."
"So
are
we."
