El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 4, Página 22
"I’ve
been
having
lunch
with
Mr.
Gatsby."
I
turned
toward
Mr.
Gatsby,
but
he
was
no
longer
there.
One
October
day
in
1917—
(said
Jordan
Baker
that
afternoon,
sitting
up
very
straight
on
a
straight
chair
in
the
tea
garden
at
the
Plaza
Hotel)
—I
was
walking
from
one
place
to
another,
partly
on
the
sidewalks
and
partly
on
the
lawns.
I
preferred
the
lawns
because
I
wore
shoes
from
England
with
rubber
knobs
on
the
soles
that
gripped
the
soft
ground.
I
also
wore
a
new
plaid
skirt
that
blew
a
little
in
the
wind,
and
whenever
this
happened,
the
red,
white,
and
blue
banners
in
front
of
all
the
houses
stretched
out
stiffly
and
made
a
tut-tut-tut-tut
sound,
as
if
disapproving.
The
largest
of
the
banners
and
lawns
belonged
to
Daisy
Fay’s
house.
She
was
just
eighteen,
two
years
older
than
me,
and
by
far
the
most
popular
young
girl
in
Louisville.
She
dressed
in
white,
had
a
little
white
roadster,
and
all
day
long
the
phone
rang
in
her
house
with
excited
young
officers
from
Camp
Taylor
asking
for
the
privilege
of
spending
the
evening
with
her.
"At
least
for
an
hour!"
