El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 7, Página 61
Someone
who
had
been
driving
a
little
behind
us
confirmed
this,
and
the
policeman
turned
away.
"Now,
if
you’ll
give
me
that
name
again
correctly—"
Picking
up
Wilson
like
a
doll,
Tom
carried
him
into
the
office,
set
him
in
a
chair,
and
returned.
"If
someone
will
come
here
and
sit
with
him,"
he
ordered
authoritatively.
He
watched
as
the
two
men
standing
nearby
exchanged
glances
and
reluctantly
entered
the
room.
Then
Tom
closed
the
door
on
them
and
stepped
down,
avoiding
looking
at
the
table.
As
he
passed
by
me,
he
whispered:
"Let’s
get
out."
Self-consciously,
with
him
clearing
the
way,
we
pushed
through
the
still
gathering
crowd,
passing
a
hurried
doctor,
case
in
hand,
who
had
been
called
in
a
desperate
hope
half
an
hour
ago.
Tom
drove
slowly
until
we
were
beyond
the
bend—then
he
pressed
the
accelerator,
and
the
coupé
sped
through
the
night.
Soon,
I
heard
a
low,
husky
sob
and
saw
tears
flowing
down
his
face.
