El Gran Gatsby
Capítulo 8, Página 12
Hearing
himself
say
this,
he
flinched
and
began
to
cry
out,
“Oh,
my
God!”
again
in
a
groaning
voice.
Michaelis
awkwardly
tried
to
distract
him.
“How
long
have
you
been
married,
George?
Come
on,
try
to
sit
still
for
a
minute
and
answer
my
question.
How
long
have
you
been
married?”
“Twelve
years.”
“Ever
had
any
children?
Come
on,
George,
sit
still—I
asked
you
a
question.
Did
you
ever
have
any
children?”
The
hard
brown
beetles
kept
hitting
against
the
dull
light,
and
whenever
Michaelis
heard
a
car
speeding
down
the
road
outside,
it
sounded
to
him
like
the
car
that
hadn’t
stopped
a
few
hours
before.
He
avoided
the
garage
because
the
workbench
was
stained
where
the
body
had
been,
so
he
moved
uneasily
around
the
office—he
knew
every
object
in
it
by
morning—and
occasionally
sat
beside
Wilson,
trying
to
calm
him.
“Do
you
have
a
church
you
sometimes
go
to,
George?
Even
if
you
haven’t
been
in
a
while?
Maybe
I
could
call
the
church
and
get
a
priest
to
come
over
and
talk
to
you,
see?”
