El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 12, Página 2
“Oh,
that
is
different,”
said
the
Guardian
of
the
Gates.
“No
one
has
destroyed
her
before.
I
thought
she
would
make
you
her
slaves,
like
the
others.
But
be
careful;
she
is
wicked
and
fierce.
Keep
to
the
West,
where
the
sun
sets,
and
you
will
find
her.”
They
thanked
him,
said
goodbye,
and
walked
to
the
West.
They
walked
over
fields
with
soft
grass
and
flowers.
Dorothy
still
wore
the
pretty
silk
dress
from
the
palace.
But
now
it
was
white,
not
green.
The
ribbon
on
Toto’s
neck
was
white
too.
They
soon
left
the
Emerald
City
far
behind.
The
ground
became
rougher
and
hillier.
There
were
no
farms
or
houses
in
this
part
of
the
West.
The
ground
was
not
worked.
In
the
afternoon,
the
sun
was
hot
on
their
faces.
There
were
no
trees
for
shade.
Before
night,
Dorothy,
Toto,
and
the
Lion
were
tired.
They
lay
on
the
grass
and
fell
asleep.
The
Woodman
and
the
Scarecrow
kept
watch.
The
Wicked
Witch
of
the
West
had
one
eye,
but
it
was
strong
like
a
telescope.
She
sat
at
her
castle
door
and
saw
Dorothy
asleep
with
her
friends.
They
were
far
away,
but
the
Witch
was
angry
to
see
them.
She
blew
a
silver
whistle
around
her
neck.
At
once,
a
pack
of
great
wolves
came
running
to
her.
They
had
long
legs,
fierce
eyes,
and
sharp
teeth.
