El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 4, Página 1
After
a
few
hours,
the
road
became
rough.
Walking
was
hard,
and
the
Scarecrow
often
fell
over
the
yellow
bricks.
They
were
uneven,
and
some
were
broken
or
missing.
Toto
jumped
over
the
holes,
and
Dorothy
walked
around
them.
The
Scarecrow,
without
brains,
walked
straight
and
fell
into
the
holes.
He
never
got
hurt,
and
Dorothy
helped
him
up.
They
both
laughed
at
his
falls.
The
farms
here
were
not
as
nice
as
before.
There
were
fewer
houses
and
fruit
trees.
The
farther
they
went,
the
more
lonely
and
sad
the
country
looked.
At
noon,
they
sat
by
the
road
near
a
small
brook.
Dorothy
opened
her
basket
and
took
out
some
bread.
She
offered
a
piece
to
the
Scarecrow,
but
he
said
no.
“I
am
never
hungry,”
he
said.
“I
am
lucky
because
my
mouth
is
only
painted.
If
I
cut
a
hole
to
eat,
the
straw
inside
me
would
come
out,
and
my
head
would
lose
its
shape.”
Dorothy
saw
this
was
true,
so
she
nodded
and
ate
her
bread.
“Tell
me
about
yourself
and
your
country,”
said
the
Scarecrow
after
she
finished
eating.
Dorothy
told
him
about
Kansas,
how
gray
it
was,
and
how
the
cyclone
brought
her
to
the
Land
of
Oz.
