El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 22, Página 2
"But
you
shall
not!"
replied
the
voice.
Then,
from
behind
the
rock,
stepped
the
strangest
man
the
travelers
had
ever
seen.
He
was
short
and
stout
with
a
big
head,
flat
on
top,
and
a
thick
neck
full
of
wrinkles.
He
had
no
arms,
so
the
Scarecrow
wasn't
afraid.
He
thought
the
man
couldn't
stop
them.
So
he
said,
"I'm
sorry,
but
we
must
pass
over
your
hill,"
and
walked
forward
boldly.
The
man’s
head
shot
forward
like
lightning,
and
his
neck
stretched
out.
The
flat
top
of
his
head
hit
the
Scarecrow
in
the
middle,
sending
him
rolling
down
the
hill.
The
head
returned
to
the
body
quickly,
and
the
man
laughed
harshly,
saying,
"It
isn’t
as
easy
as
you
think!"
Laughter
came
from
other
rocks,
and
Dorothy
saw
hundreds
of
armless
Hammer-Heads
on
the
hillside,
one
behind
each
rock.
The
Lion
got
angry
at
their
laughter.
He
roared
loudly,
like
thunder,
and
ran
up
the
hill.
Another
head
shot
out
quickly,
and
the
great
Lion
rolled
down
the
hill
as
if
hit
by
a
cannonball.
